James J. Yukevich

A 1978 graduate of Boston College Law School, Mr. Yukevich has more than 25 years of courtroom experience as a trial lawyer. Mr. Yukevich's practice in the firm he founded focuses regionally and nationally on the defense of Fortune 500 clientele in complex product liability claims. These include claims against a variety of manufacturers in which entire product lines are under attack.

Mr. Yukevich currently serves as coordinating counsel and trial counsel for one of America's largest tire companies. He was one of a select few national trial counsel in American Honda Motor Company's three-wheel ATV litigation.

Mr. Yukevich defends product liability cases generally, representing major heavy equipment, consumer products, and pharmaceutical manufacturers, as well as manufacturers of various consumer and industrial products. Mr. Yukevich began his career as a Special Assistant District Attorney in Middle County, Massachusetts during his last year of law school. He tried two misdemeanors and one felony jury trial while a law student, obtaining convictions in all three cases.

Mr. Yukevich was then appointed Assistant District Attorney, Bronx County, New York, where he served for four years. Mr. Yukevich served as an Assistant District Attorney in Criminal Court, and as a member of Homicide Unit, and the Major Offense Unit.

From 1982 to 1991, Mr. Yukevich was a partner at a major New York City law firm, where he specialized in defending the interests of various manufacturers as well as practicing in the area of general and complex litigation. He served as Regional Coordinating Counsel to Honda North America in its defense of ATV in thirteen eastern states.

In 1991, Mr. Yukevich relocated to California at the request of Honda, and served from 1991 to 1993 as its Assistant General Counsel. In 1993, he successfully defended Honda's first trial involving a CPSC warnings approved four-wheel terrain vehicle, which lasted six months. In 1995, he founded the firm now known as Yukevich Calfo and Cavanaugh. For the past 12 years, the firm has defended its clients in hundreds of serious cases, and established itself as one of Los Angeles's premier litigation firms. Mr. Yukevich has an outstanding track record at trial, especially in high exposure cases involving difficult challenges on liability and damages. With 21 lawyers, seven paralegals and a support staff of 25, Mr. Yukevich and his firm offer outstanding service and results to their clients.
